Random Quirks...

My friend Julie tagged me a while ago and I never posted about it. Sorry, Julie! I am not totally following the rules of the tag, but her are my "random quirks".

1. Based on the info above I don't always follow the rules and I am a procrastinator. But if you give me a deadline I work good under pressure. In college I wrote some of my best term paper hours before they were due.

2. I really am extremely shy and most of the time feel like a complete dork in social situations. However, when people have shared their impression of me they always describe me as outgoing and energetic.

3. I am a "cry over spilled milk" person. When something huge happens in my life, like the death of my father, I can handle it (to a degree, don't get me wrong, I miss my Dad tremendously). But when a small change or unexpected thing happens that I thought I could control, I don't adjust well. I think the difference between the two is the "control" part. If I thought I could have controlled the situation or problem, then that is when I get upset.

4. I am a "nap Nazi". When I have kid that naps in the afternoon, you can find me at home. I think it is important for them to get a good nap in their bed and have a good rest. Now, I know this is not always ideal. But if my schedule allows and I can be home in the afternoon for their nap...I am!!!

5. I love beans in my burrito, but not on the side. I don't like beans to just eat with a spoon.

6. I am soooooooo blessed. Although, this is not a quirk. It is worth mentioning. I just consider myself so lucky to have a hard working supportive husband, a beautiful home, smart healthy kids, an extended family that loves me, talents, health, a future, ability to overcome obstacles, education, faith, knowledge and testimony of the atonement, friends, and the list could go on and on. I should never have moments of the crying over spilled milk because I have all a girl could want and mistakes happen in life and those moments are what makes us stronger. OK, blah, blah, blah...I'm rambling.

Sorry, Julie this took so long but I always come through in the end.

Not really sure what I want to say about this little girl. I do know that I have thought to myself many times, I hope she doesn't have as many insecurities as I did growing up (and still do as an adult). I wish sometimes I was better at encouraging her and nurturing her to believe in herself. She has a strong maternal instinct and since a very early age has been "mothering" her dolls and stuffed animals. She is a little artist. Loves playdoh, painting, drawing and making mud pies. She still chooses pink for everything if it is an option. She loves to help me cook. Several weeks ago she got to run a lap at a WOU football game as a fundraiser for her preschool. There was some down time before it started and I glanced over at her and she had about 7 little kids of various ages following her. She was instructing them to stand on a line and then race over to another spot. I told the other moms that were around me that I hope that is a budding leadership quality not a bossy quality. They agreed it was leadership. While attending some of Rowdy's football practices this fall she was showing a group of girls that she can do a head stand. Well they were amazed and kept asking her to do it again. These girls were probably 10 years old. She was beaming with pride from all the attention and praise she was getting from the girls. She told me later that one of the girls said that she couldn't even do that!!! Avery also seems to have a gift with numbers like her Dad. Lately she has been randomly spouting off all these math problems and informing my of the answers.

As I am learning my camera, I have used the delete button a lot!!! I have also loaded photos into my computer that I thought were award winning, only to find out that the focus was way off or the exposure was not even close.

Kim shared with me some editing tips that will save many of my less than perfect shots. Here is another before and after with the Bo-man. Sorry I didn't take the time to make them big mainly because they are landscape shots and it is more difficult to make those bigger.

Avery had a big week!

She has been doing so well in Ballet and Tap class. I am not just saying that either. She is so good. It just comes naturally to her. I would keep her in class just so I have an excuse to buy these cute leg warmers.

She will be five in February and she just had her first haircut. Well, it was a trim. You couldn't even tell she got it cut when we were done. I had to bribe her with a lollypop to get her to do it.



She had her first sleepover at her cousin's house on Friday. She was so excited. It was all she could talk about. She went right to work packing her bag when she got home from school. She has her sleeping bag over her shoulder in this photo. She kept all of her stuff (pillow, backpack and sleeping bag with her at all times all afternoon. So fun!

Baby Buns Take Two...

This one is on it's back, you can just see the paws and nose....ohhhhh so cute!

I have a favorite bunny already. It is this little one. Hopefully you can see better in this photo. We have lost two of them so far. The remaining four seem to be doing really well. Ruby is feeding them like a good little mama bunny. Sometimes, I go to check on them and their little bellies are so full they look like they are going to pop.

Baby Buns!

They are about three inches long. We lost one last night. It was a little black one. We can't hold them for about three weeks. So Thanksgiving will be fun. All the little cousins can hold a baby bunny. Rowdy and Avery were so excited to see them last night.

I AM FREAKING OUT!!!!

I'm a GRANDMA!!!!

Our bunny Ruby had babies!!!!! There are six of those little hairless things squirming around in the hutch. Ruby looks like a good Mommy so far...She didn't have any hay in her hutch and she made them a nest out of her belly fur (don't worry that's what they do).

I threw some more hay in there and she quickly went to work making a nest. I hope they all survive. We are going to move them into the barn tonight. I haven't told the kids yet...we will when Ron get home.

The ittsy bittsy spider!

Bodie enjoyed his first lollypop on Halloween night at Grandma Martha's house. He wasn't too sure about it at first but once he got the hang of it he had the whole thing in his mouth without holding onto the stick. It was really funny to watch him.

He also enjoyed digging in grandma's candy bowl. It was hard to get a good photo of him because he was busy digging candy out of the bowl and handing it to grandma.



This is just a small example of the the jack-o-lanterns that we saw at that house I mentioned in my other post. It was so cool and she comes up with her own ideas and designs for all of them.

Trick or Treat!

If I do say so myself, I think that Avery makes a pretty cute cheerleader (a last minute costume change from Supergirl). Rowdy was so jazzed about being a Transformer (even though everyone keep calling him a Power Ranger). As Rowdy put on his costume he was making the sound that the Transformer make when they "Transform and roll out!" I love that boy!

Every Halloween we have to stop at Ron's Grandma's (that's tradition). This was her first Halloween without Papa. It just seemed so odd to see his chair empty. We MISS you Papa!

We then went to the church for "Trunk or Treat". This is just an event the Church puts on to offer a safe Trick or Treating opportunity. Family's decorate the trunks of their cars and hand out candy from there. Anyway, Avery is kind of shy and stubborn at times and she was having a hard time saying thank you after she whispered "Trick or Treat". I tried to explain to her all you have to say is "Trick or Treat and Thank You" to get the candy. Well Ron pulled her aside and had a little chat with her and all was well.

We added a new tradition to the Halloween night festivities. Ron has been farming this piece of property up the street from us and the lady that lives there carves about 50 pumpkins and puts them all over her yard and she serves homemade donuts on Halloween night. It was AMAZING! I will post some photos when I post the photos of Bo-man!
