Bodie's first day of Pre-School...

First of all let me explain something to you about this young man, don't ever call him a little boy. He will quickly and with authority correct you, "Me not little boy, me big boy!". Yes, the big boy still talks like Cookie Monster...but I'm ok with that.

Bodie's first day involved sleeping in while I took Rowdy and Avery to school. My Mom was here to help out so he got to wake up to Grandma snuggles on the couch and breakfast with Grandma.

When I returned from dropping The Bigs off we headed out. This all just seems like a whirlwind to me. Wasn't it just the other day that I was attending a meeting for Avery's first year of preschool with Bodie in the baby carrier (one week old).
Bo took this little fox with him to school. Fox has been his go to softie friend lately.

I might have had fox on my head to get him to sit still for a minute and flash me the blueberry-like eyes at me.

Then he wanted Grandma to put Fox on her head...goofy boy.

I was getting Bo out of the van and expected him to wait by my side to go into the school and he just walked right around the corner and marched up to the door and tried his best to open it. Uhmmm, confidence not an issue with this Big Boy.

This picture of Fireman Bodie says so many things to me.
  • Bodie likes to dress up. This proves not all siblings are the same. I don't think that Rowdy dressed up in any play clothes the entire two years he was at this school. He might have worn a hat or two but never a costume. Bodie is in the play room 2 minutes and instant Fireman!!! I love that. Rowdy was a hot wheel guy...he always went straight for the hot wheels.
  • I have to point out that the hat is backwards. But that is about right for a 3 year old. I tried to put it the other way a few times but he always put it back this way...so cute!
  • He was making pretend "calls" to his other friends in the room who were being Firemen too.

First Day of School, sort of...

I will do a post later of the standard first day of school photos that I took of the kids. But here are a few I took as they enjoyed homemade chocolate cookies when they got off the bus. It was so nice to have grandma there. She was able to see Bodie go to his first day of pre-school and see Rowdy and Avery off for their first day. More photos to come...

Three Hundred and Thirty Six...

Photobucket

I am chopped liver when this women is around. To say that my children adore her doesn't do it justice. She is my right arm at times and I told her that I don't know what I would do without her...and she then told me that I just gave her the best Christmas present that I could have given.

Three Hundred and Seven...

I was able to spend the day with the kids at school on their last day before Christmas Break. I spent the morning in Rowdy's class and bounced back and forth between Avery's and Rowdy's in the afternoon. It was fun take a break from my normal routine (if I have one) and go hangout with them at school. Both Rowdy and Avery's teachers had stockings in the classrooms for the kids to fill and open on the last day.

Rowdy dumped his all out and started to eat all the treats inside. Avery took a different approach and just peeked inside and pulled out some of the items to inspect. She did ask to eat one of her candy canes. But she didn't want to lose any of her treasure so she kept them all inside until she got home.

She is saying "Merry Christmas" before they got to open their stockings!
What a great way for all of us to start the Christmas Break! My mom watched Bodie and when we got home they were napping on the couch together...so sweet!

In preparation for Christmas morning I was making an Almond Pastry that my Mom usually makes on Christmas morning. He has probably been in my Mom's house only a few times when she is actually making this pastry. The day I was making it he says to me, "Mom, it smells like something Grandma Mickie would make in here." It made me happy for a few reasons. Mainly, that my cooking was smelling as good as my Mom's and also that he was able to tell me about it and articulate it. It just made me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Two Hundred and Seventy Seven ...

I absolutely loved these when I was a kid. I was so happy when Rowdy said he found one in the driveway when he got off the bus. Avery wanted to keep it in her room. But we settled on a little carton with some leaves and rocks in it. After she was done playing we found a place to let it go in the woods. Seeing that wooly bear brought back a ton of memories.

One hundred and eighty-nine...

This is my Mom. Have I ever told you that when my mom is around I take the back seat. My kids adore her and she is the go to gal when she visits. She loves my kids so much. She was worried that Bodie won't know her very well because she got a job that doesn't allow us to see each other as often as we used to....well Bodie knows her very well and loves her very much.

One hundred and eighty...

I took these way back in January. Probably on a day that was too cold to go out and play. What I find interesting when I look at these is how much Bodie has changed. Also, I notice that we should have cut his hair sooner. He has a mouth full of teeth now. He doesn't walk like an orangutan anymore. In fact, he is learning to jump and he loves to dance. It is hilarious to watch. He surprised me the other day when he stepped up our flight of stairs to the second floor without crawling up. He took big boy steps all the way up!
He is still totally obsessed with phones. He likes to talk to Grandma and Dada on the phone.

Sometimes I wonder were these little feet will travel in his lifetime. His Greatgrandma Martha always says "Those little feet have so many miles ahead of them". I have heard her say it about every single great-grandbaby she has...it is so sweet!

One hundred and thirty-one...

Rowdy's elementary school had a BBQ to honor Grandparents and my mom came down to attend! We had a great time. Although, we had a little mishap. They were serving lunch in the gym and it was really crowded. So we decided to eat outside on the lawn. Two of Rowdy's other Grandmas showed up and his teacher started to look for him. Well, not knowing that we were outside she started to get worried when she couldn't find him. She had the entire playground looking for him. We headed inside to throw away our garbage and ran into the his teacher and the principle who were about to go into "code red mode" because they thought they had a missing child. Can I just say...."Ooops". How embarrassing! But how great that they were so concerned and on the stick to look until they found him.
It ended up being a really nice time and so special to have a lunch with our Grandma's at school!

We tried to get some photos of this bucket of worms yesterday. And it proved to be interesting.

Fifty-two...

My mom came to visit this weekend because she is going on a trip soon and wanted to see the kids before she left. Bodie knows my Mom even though we only see her a few times a month, if that. He gave her the nicest hug when she got here. He just went right into her arms and glued his head on her shoulder. We love The Grandma!
